SUMMARY:WHITE PINE PLANTING
DESCRIPTION:White pines were once a staple in the landscape of the North Shore. Our White Pine Project IPA was a beer with a purpose – to help reinstate the white pine population in our back yard. Proceeds from this beer went directly to planting targeted areas along the North Shore that will stand for future generations to enjoy.\nThis is where Team Danger Volunteers come in. You drank the beer\, now help us plant some trees! In addition to purchasing 2\,500 seedlings\, a portion of the proceeds of the White Pine Project IPA purchased around 40 young white pines. With the help of Lake County Soil and Water\, these trees are going to be planted at the Burlington Bay Campground right in Two Harbors. Let’s get planting!\nWhere: Burlington Bay Campground\, meet at the Visitor Center Parking Lot\nWhen: Saturday\, June 8th at 10:00 am until all trees are planted (plan on several hours.) Feel free to come for a couple of hours or to stay until the job is done.\nWhat to bring: Plenty of water\, snacks/lunch\, work gloves\, shovel (if you have one but some will be provided)\, sunscreen\, and any other outdoor gear you may need. Be prepared to get dirty!\nAll ages are welcome. Children under 18 must have adult supervision. As always\, if you volunteer you get a beer! Please fill out the form below for each attendee.\nSIGN UP LINK: https://forms.gle/dvCdzHuXdTwoc4yu9

SUMMARY:BLUE BLAZE BLITZ
DESCRIPTION:Many of the blue and white blazes on the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) have faded or gone with downed trees since they were originally painted back in 2006 and 2007. It’s time to restore these blazes to their original glory and ensure trail users are able to find their way on the SHT. On October 5th\, Team Danger will join a larger force of SHTA volunteers to paint new blue trail markers along the SHT. Team Danger Volunteers will be in-charge of up to a 5 mile section starting at the West Castle Danger Trailhead. Here is a link to a video of what we will be doing: https://youtu.be/wYf7RtBcVlA. \nSHTA and Castle Danger Brewery will provide training\, supplies (brushes\, paint\, templates\, etc.)\, and directions to your assigned trailhead. \nDetails:\nWho: Team Danger Volunteers\nWhere: Meet at the West Castle Danger Rd Trailhead. We will be doing a large section so we will be splitting into groups from this point.\nWhen: Saturday\, October 5th at 10:00 am until our section of trail is complete (plan on several hours.) Feel free to come for a couple hours (you will get a smaller section of trail) or to stay until the job is done. \nWhat to bring:\n• Plenty of water and food. Blazing on the Trail will take more time than hiking so don’t skimp on these provisions.\n• Bug dope. They’re still out there.\n• Gloves\, if desired. (this paint is oil-based = messy)\n• Some sort of container to hold supplies in as you walk\n• Grubby clothing and shoes (again\, oil-based paint is messy) \nAll ages are welcome. Children under 18 must have adult supervision. As always\, if you volunteer you get a beer! Please fill out the form for each attendee. https://forms.gle/sXakDdYRLBV25vRz6

SUMMARY:JOHN BEARGREASE VOLUNTEER EVENT
DESCRIPTION:Event Timing: Sunday\, January 26th\, time 12:00-until the last team crosses the road! (last year the last team crossed around 5:00). It will be busiest later in the afternoon so if you can only come for a couple hours that would be the 2:00-5:00 is the time. \nEvent Address: Laine Rd Road Crossing\nDirections:\nFrom Hwy 61\, North on Homestead Rd to T in rd then right on W Knife River Rd\, Left on Culbertson Rd (curve)\, Right on Two Harbors Rd (curve)\, Left on Laine Rd (CR 266) about 2.5 miles to crossing.\nFrom Pequaywan Lake Rd. South on the Rossini Rd 7 miles to crossing.\nRepeater: 147.270 + PL 103.5 or 147.330 + PL 114.8\nGPS N47.04.073 W091.48.303 \nAbout: You will be assuring the safety of all Beargrease teams as they cross the road. This may include putting snow on the road to allow the sleds glide smoothly. Once the teams start coming\, volunteers will line either side of the trail. This helps keep the dogs on the trail and prevents them from going down the road instead. Some traffic control is required. You may need to stop cars to allow teams to cross and wait for an opening between teams to allow cars past (typically they want to stop and watch). \nWhat to bring: Wear very warm clothes (reflective if you have it)\, bring snacks and beverages\, and be ready to cheer on some sled dogs and mushers! Castle Danger will provide some hot chocolate and cookies\, as well as some shovels. We will also have a fire going if possible. \nSIGN UP HERE!
